About Our Practice.

MindStream Integrative Medicine is an integrative medicine and behavioral practice. Most of the people who see us are 18+ but we are happy to provide some consultations for younger individuals when desired. MindStream is not a primary care provider, but works with people to deepen, broaden, coordinate, and connect various information streams and get additional data to help understand and improve health.

MindStream has all of the tools of a medical practice, including prescribing medications, ordering labs and radiology tests, and coordinating care with specialty providers. In addition, MindStream engages with botanicals, movement, and a robust network of skillful health practitioners in the area to accomplish patient's goals. MindStream excels in situations where there is not enough time or capacity to accomplish more complex care coordination or data integration. Learn more about MindStream in our Practice FAQ.

LEARN MORE ABOUT
Amy Price Neff, MD

Dr. Price Neff is a native Tennessean who grew up in Memphis. As a kid, in addition to an obsession with horses, Amy loved cycling, running and medicine. She was very fortunate to have a biologist for a father, who worked in medical research and facilitated her early interests in immunology and cell biology. After attending UT Knoxville, where she did her undergraduate work in Neuroanatomy, she went to medical school at UT Memphis. Amy did her residency in Charlottesville, Virginia at the University of Virginia in the Department of Family Medicine where she also did a Fellowship in Faculty Development and focused on community mental health. At the time, the most interesting questions in healthcare for Amy were the lack of access to care for the uninsured and underinsured.

During their time in Norfolk, Amy and Eric opened a butcher shop called Pendulum Fine Meats with their neighbors, Dylan and Dana Wakefield. Amy taught cooking classes to medical students and hosted community events to discuss meat, diets and health, animal welfare, and food systems. Interested in farming, food systems, and the intersection of regenerative agriculture and eaters, the Neffs began a journey in farming that continues in Nashville.

Moving to Nashville in 2015, Dr. Price Neff took time off to be a mom to their 3 daughters and worked very part-time at the University School of Nashville, where their oldest attended school. She continued to farm, raising sheep and began a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the celebrated Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. In 2018, she started practicing again, meeting her wonderful coworkers, Tyna Barzee and Lauren Clanton. Together they continue to engage deeply with the patients with whom they walk.

Dr. Price Neff began working with the Chopra Foundation in 2021 as a medical provider of Ayurvedic Consults for their Perfect Health retreats held twice a month at Civana in Carefree, Arizona. She continues to study Ayurveda as well as deep inquiries into the microbiome, cancer metabolism, nutrition, mindfulness, medications and the mind, autoimmunity and the clinical questions that come up in daily practice. For all of us at MindStream, the excitement that comes from continuous learning is one of the most precious fuels for practice.

Lauren ClantonLEARN MORE ABOUT
Lauren Clanton, NP

Lauren Clanton grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee. Growing up, she spent a lot of time with her grandparents and enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing home, which fostered her early interest in nursing. In high school, she received her certified nurse’s aide training, and then went on to pursue her Bachelor of Science in nursing at East Tennessee State University. While in nursing school, she volunteered at the local senior center, focusing on research involving mobility and fall risk reduction in community dwelling senior adults. She also worked at the Johnson City Medical Center on the Inpatient Oncology Unit, where she then worked after graduating and becoming a Registered Nurse.

Lauren moved to Nashville, Tennessee to complete her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University. During her time at Vanderbilt, she assisted with a research study investigating high risk medications associated with delirium in hospitalized patients with end-stage dementia. After becoming board certified as an adult and gerontological primary care nurse practitioner in 2012 (AGPCNP-BC), she went on to work in the nursing home and psychiatric hospital settings. In both settings, and in her previous research, the need for polypharmacy reduction as well as better preventive healthcare became apparent. As part of developing a mindfulness practice of her own, and looking more towards integrative health solutions, Lauren completed her certified yoga teacher training in 2015. She continues to practice yoga and utilize it as part of her treatment recommendations for her patients.

She has worked in the primary care setting since 2015. Although this environment is all encompassing, her favorite part of the work is the relationships she builds with patients and their families, and the trust aspect involved in this process. In the primary care setting, the need for education for lifestyle modification, polypharmacy reduction, and the access to mental healthcare for her patients is ever-more present. With this, Lauren decided to pursue an additional board certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to further equip her to care for patients’ psychological needs in addition to their physiological needs.

She is grateful to have met Amy and Tyna in 2018. Since that time, she has enjoyed aspiring with them to create a more conducive patient environment for true preventive care. As a duly certified adult/gerontoloical and psychiatric NP, she is excited to continue the lifelong learning process of the mind-body connection with patients at Mindstream Integrative Medicine.

Lauren and her husband Greg enjoy yoga, hiking, amateur rock climbing, and neighborhood walks, playground, library, and museum exploration with their two young children, Harvey and Gwen.

Practice FAQ

No, we charge for our services based on the length of the appointment. Initial visits are always 60 minutes, and are $450. Follow up visits are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes, based on patient preference or mutual agreement and cost $225 for 30 minutes and $450 for the hour. Group visits are also available according to the schedule posted on the website and are priced accordingly. Health coaching, aromatherapy, reflexology, iridology and nutrition consult appointments are 60 minutes and available for $85 per session. Mindstream can order tests or place referrals which will be able to go through a patient’s insurance. We are able to provide patients with superbills that patients can submit to their insurer for reimbursement.

Mindstream encourages all patients to have insurance as well as a PCP or urgent care facility identified who can do annual physicals and sick visits. Mindstream does not provide inpatient services. Mindstream can work with your insurance company for lab orders, radiology studies, medications, and other covered services, but does not take insurance for your office visits.

At this time, we do not expect to be doing any point of care lab tests. We work with Labcorp, Quest and other specialty labs for tests that are not available through the typical vendors. We work to find low-cost options for labs and radiology for patients without insurance or with a high deductible. We offer wholesale pricing on functional medicine tests such as microbiome tests, hormone tests, mold, heavy metals, and neuroinflammation screenings

Patients with autoimmune conditions need nutritional guidance and support, lab assessments, and occasional
functional medicine tests to help understand ways to lower inflammation and reduce symptoms or progression. We
also understand that one autoimmune condition is a risk factor for another, so surveillance, screenings, and
preventive measures are a large part of our practice.

We see patients with mood symptoms and assess for general medical conditions that often cause these
symptoms or imbalances in a person’s constitution that can exacerbate mood symptoms. We participate in regular
trainings to deepen our skillsets with somatic and trauma-informed therapies. Our practice can support patients
who need support for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, trauma, and dissociative
disorders.

Mindstream helps to support patients living with a cancer diagnosis to prevent recurrence using metabolic
approaches to cancer. We use Jane McLelland’s approach and seek to partner with a patient’s oncology care team
to support well-researched metabolic approaches that may not be provided in the traditional setting.

Mindstream is able to use and interpret tests that assess the gut microbiome, hormone analysis and other
functional medicine tests, and offers practical, evidence-based approaches to conditions such as hormone
therapy, dysbiosis, toxin exposures, and neuroinflammation.

Mindstream is eager to help patients coordinate care or navigate the health system. If you are interested in this, we
provide that on a case-by-case basis.

Mindstream has providers who are trained in psychiatric care, family medicine, integrative medicine, health coaching, aromatherapy, reflexology, iridology, Ayurvedic approaches, mindfulness meditation and we continuously training to deepen our skillset for our patients. We regularly work with behavioralists, chiropractors, specialists, and coaches to improve our patients outcomes.

In general, Mindstream is not available after hours. We ask that you have a PCP or urgent care identified for sick visits. We are happy to talk to you during business hours and make a plan for any follow up care that is needed.

Ketamine is a powerful catalyst that may help provide energy for change or reduce inner barriers to change. By working within the carefully curated container at Mindstream, clients receive preparation, integration and medicine session support that helps anchor the awarenesses that arrive using this approach.
