Why VO₂ Max Matters

VO₂ max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during intense exercise. It's considered one of the most accurate ways to assess your cardiorespiratory fitness—and is a powerful indicator of overall health, endurance, and longevity.

At MindStream, our VO₂ max testing is conducted using a graded exercise protocol (typically on a treadmill or stationary bike) while you wear a specialized mask that measures your oxygen intake and carbon dioxide output in real-time. This data helps us calculate:

  • VO₂ max (measured in ml/kg/min)
  • Heart rate zones for optimal training (fat burn, aerobic, anaerobic, recovery)
  • Ventilatory thresholds (VT1 and VT2)
  • Caloric burn efficiency at various intensities
  • Training recommendations based on your metabolic profile

The test takes about 45 minutes from start to finish, including warm-up and recovery. Results are reviewed with a trained practitioner so you leave with clear, actionable insights about how to structure your workouts for improved stamina, fat burning, and long-term cardiovascular health.
